Interracial Dating
Have you even gone out and noticed two people holding hands? Except these two people are from two different cultural backgrounds. Have you ever noticed the way people stare?Today interracial relationships are happening in most cities. Not everyone likes it. There are some who don’t really care and others who burn with fire from the sight of interracial dating. Interracial dating has been a part of society for hundreds of years.
This year, marks the 40th Anniversary of Loving v. Virginia. “The court rendered all laws forbidding marriage between persons of different races unconstitutional. This ruling allowed Mildred Loving, a woman of mixed African, European, and Native descent, to marry Richard Loving, a white race car driver, and live peacefully in their home state of Virginia.” (blackprof.com)
Love can be found in all cultures and skin tones, so even after 40 years later, why do we still stare?

I use to deal with this on a regular basis…in a weird way I liked it since it made me stick out even more and knew I was in a way leaving a mark on society…at the same time however it was always hard trying to find a mediated balance between my culture and my partner’s.
As far as society goes, for the most part, at least with my family they were really apathetic. My friend’s on the other hand were a lot less tolerant which I found ironic since I was the minority in the group. It made me wonder…if they felt that way about myself and my particular partner, then how did they feel about me?
These issues were squashed after I became engaged following my graduation from Palo Verde. I had been dating a hispanic girl for two years and we were together for five. Before her though I was known to be the “brown guy with the white girl.” Since then though I have found that it is easier for myself to date withing my culture and heritage just because of the ability to relate to personal and well as repetitive as this sounds cultural values. (I’ve since become single)
My current partner is hispanic (as have been the last 4) and I find it much easier to get along with…I can go on and on about this so I’ll stop my rant here
